Just wanted to let everyone know about Spectrum's $25 declined credit card fee. For some unknown reason my card was declined once, and spectrum charged me $25. I called them and told them to re-run the charge because it is a valid credit card and it went through just fine.
They treat a declined credit card the same as a returned check. Unlike a returned check, a declined card cost them no money. Zero. No other company I've ever done business with has ever done this. Imagine ordering a burger at McDonalds for $1 and they say your card is declined, the new price is $25 + $1 = $26
My suggestion is to remove auto-pay from your account (bank or credit card) and simply write them a paper check.
After much internet searching, evidently, this money grab idea is from the company they merged from, Cox. Tons of complaints about this. I'm not alone. I dont even see how it could be legal in Maine. Maybe its not.
I already miss Time Warner.
