In her inaugural address, Janet Mills made climate change action her top priority.
She vows that 50 % of Maine’s electricity will come from “renewable” sources.
Solar panels are coming to the Blaine House.
Meanwhile she says we’re done with looking at studies.
Studies, for example, that show increased reliance on intermittent sources like wind and solar necessitate keeping backup sources fueled by natural gas or oil or coal (absent nuclear power) up and running, thus negating the low emissions benefits of renewables.
Studies that show poor and working class people are most hurt by the energy price escalation caused by increased use of “renewables” and taxes and subsidies in the energy sector.
Apparently Gov. Mills can’t relate to the “yellow vests” in France, protesting high gas prices owing to Macron’s climate policies.
This tells me Maine’s climate initiatives are for the well-to-do who can afford solar panels and will never notice higher energy costs.
Why should ratepayers pay even a fraction of a cent more so that their betters can cut their energy bills with solar panels?
Even CNN acknowledges that climate action hurts the poor working guy while making the Davis set feel virtuous.
