If the government (FBI, CIA, Justice Dept.) are convinced the Russians attempted to rig the election of 2016 it would come as a result of knowing what they did and how they did it and they have so far avoided answering those questions because they can’t.
Hillary won the election (popular vote) but didn’t get elected because the systems weighs the votes of heavily populated areas more than less. The attempt to discredit her by exposing her selling influence was mounted not by the Russians but, Wikileaks. The government has not investigated the source from which Wikileaks obtained the information and the person who is privy to this knowledge is ensconced in the Ecuadorean Embassy in England. The U. S. could easily get Ecuador to release him so he could be extradited to the U. S. and be compelled to reveal his source or admit he obtained the emails he has been releasing to the press by his own methods. This is not being pursued because the government does not want it known the Russians had nothing to do with it. We are living in a police state and the police hierarchy have been corrupted as they were during the days of Prohibition.
The government, through patronage, has loaded itself with Democrat believers since the days of Franklin Roosevelt. They are not about to allow anyone else, Republican or Independent to upset their applecart. All of this would be moot had they nominated Bernie Sanders, who is not even a Democrat. He would have won in a landslide.
