Yes, that's right Preppers! Your time has come! (humor)
On April 8th, the telecommunications network in the United States will be switched over - we hope.
The Telecom database that controls the placement of ALL CALLS and ALL TEXTS is being switched over on April 8th by a foreign company with, to put it politely, a checkered past. If it fails, ALL PHONES WILL STOP WORKING. That's right, preppers, no smartphones... no landlines... no VOIP... no 9-11... no nothing!
OK, in Phase 1 it's just the SouthEast, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Just what they need... another disaster.

"Currently, there is no system in place to quickly reinstate the current database should iconnectiv's overhaul go wrong, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation."
"If the new system "does not work the way it was intended, they don't have a contingency plan, which is a very odd way to do a technology transition," the source said."
I'm just kidding, but it might not be very humorous if you happen to live in that region... and that fact that even risking it is totally avoidable only makes it worse.
Could we get along without phones?
