Code Switching

I don't suppose anyone realizes that we all code switch... all the time. The difference might not be as great, but it's still important. Everyone who wants a job talks "job interview" when they need to do so!

I am not sure what this piece is suggesting as a solution, or even if it has one.

We all shift our lingo to match whoever we're talking to at the time. Failing to do so means not being understood, or worse being misunderstood. It's not necessarily rejection when someone can't understand your speech. There are folks in Maine, and many other parts of the country, whose local dialect is the next best thing to ancient Greek. If you want to be understood, you figure out how to make that happen.

It's just reality, and it works that way for everyone. This doesn't mean you speak differently at home, or in your day-to-day life... just when you need to be clear to people who don't understand your specialized lingo. I switch out of "geek" regularly to talk to actual people all the time...
