These days, it's hard to tell if it stands for anything at all.
In all the furor, one thing is certain: an F B I background check is not a reliable test.
Kavanaugh passed SIX (6) background checks.
There are 3 possibilities that I can think of: (maybe others can think of more?)
1. They're all lies, invented stories for politics. F B I check found nothing - there was nothing to find.
2. They're all true, horrible past secrets. F B I check is useless - missed everything that mattered.
3. They're all true, horrible past secrets. F B I check found... and then hid them, for later use.
I'd like to believe #3 is impossible, but that is how J. Edgar Hoover used the F B I in his day...
I'd like to believe #2 is impossible, since it means millions wasted and lots of unsuitable appointees approved.
I'd like to believe #1 is impossible, but this isn't the first time we've seen political smearing in action.
